399 In Dog Years Yo!

I'm 399 years old in dog years today.
I wrote this poem in my honor.

My skin is getting wrinkly
My thighs are getting fat
When I tug on my cheek in fact
It doesn't fall right back

My eyelids are starting to droop
I have trouble going poop
One eye sags lower than the other
And when I sleep on my back
I choke and fear I might smother.

There's a creak in my neck
That wasn't there before
And when I look in the mirror
At my back side
It's practically drooping on the floor.

There are kids who call me grammy
Box boys no longer flirt
And when I bend to genuflect in church
My knees they really hurt.

Even though I like to rest
My head on my bed before nine
At least I can say
I'm not dead (yet)
Before my time!
Happy Birthday To Meeeeeee!

Blessings for a beautiful day,

Tia

Happy Happy Birthday!

Now that you are older
I know you're smarter, too.
I love that you share your wisdom here
and with your own sweet crew.

I hope the kids all spoil you
As you celebrate your day,
And help you to your feet
When you kneel down to pray.

I hope your loving husband
Gives you a great big kiss,
And let's you know you're his darlin'
And still a pretty Miss.

Happy Birthday, Tia,
You know I love you, too.
Now cover your face with olive oil
And bid those wrinkles adieu.

I adore the poem yet I hate it becuase it too is my life!

The photo of you and hubby is beautiful.
But I want to post the rippled water on canvas and stare at it all day in my office!!

Hi Lori, Happy BD! I love your poem, but really - none of those things are true about you. Hope you had a wonderful day filled with all the people you love.

Tia - your words lifted me up and were such a comfort. I do keep praying that the doctors and scientists will find a cure for this awful disease in our lifetime. I can't believe the number of blog friends who are walking this same path with me. It's heartbreaking.

I so deeply appreciate your offer of speaking to your neighbor about my mom. I was overwhelmed with gratitude at your offer. I wouldn't even know where to begin asking him questions, to be honest with you - I have so many. Does he recommend her being seen by a geriatrician so that he can evaluate what stage she's in? I've heard that coconut oil has had some significant affects on patients with Alzheimers. What does he think of natural remedies?

I keep trying to instill in my Dad how important eating three healthy meals a day is for her as well as drinking a lot of water and getting some type of exercise and not sleeping all day long. Is your neighbor in agreement with that?

I would be glad to hear what ever advice, direction, or suggestions that he would have for Mom. I'm open to anything at this point and am all ears... :)

Please let him know that I'm keeping him in my prayers and that the study that he's working on will end up being the cure to Alzheimers. Doctors like him are such a blessing to families. I pray that God will guide him to the cure.

Thank you so much, Tia. You are one in a million, my friend.

Hugs ~

xoxo laurie
